The law obliges shops larger than 200 m² to take back empty packaging. Under the new rules, empty packaging can be returned to the shop to recover the deposit paid earlier. Shops smaller than 200 m² will be able to join the system voluntarily.
A deposit - the amount of which will be set in a regulation - will be added to single-use plastic bottles up to 3 litres, reusable glass bottles up to 1.5 litres and metal cans up to 1 litre.
